59% funded and 8,000 DLs! Updates & info

Wow, everyone! The last few days have been a wild ride.

Scrabdackle crossed 27% funded in the first hour and broke 50% just past the 24 hour mark. It's been an incredible start - we broke my first day expectations by about 3-4 thousand dollars! And we've just been made a Project We Love as well!

There's still a long way to go - the first day or two of a Kickstarter are always the most exciting, and we still need to push through another 40% to hit our target, plus some of the exciting Stretch Goal story content I've got lined up.

If you haven't taken a look, please consider checking it out and seeing if the page and video grab you! If you've already pledged (thank you!) and want to know what you can do to help the campaign further, then please spread the word! Every pledge counts, and we've got ground to cover :)

We also crossed a whopping 8,000 downloads of the demo here on itch.io! It's crazy how far this little project has come. I'm so excited to bring a full game to you guys!

Here's what's happened and what's happening:

Peanut Wizard!

We've started two suggestion-based adventures set in the Scrabdackle world! These are updating daily between 2-3pm EST. We're a few days in, but you can still jump in and participate!

I'm running an image-based "Peanut Wizard" on my Twitter account, where I'll take a comment on each day's both and have that be the action for the next day's post. Follow me for new posts! They'll go up around 2-3pm EST every day.

And 2 Left Thumbs is running a text-based "Peanut Wizard" on their Youtube account, where the most-voted poll will be chosen as the next day's action! Follow 2LT on Youtube to take part in those!

Both adventures are using the same starting prompt set in Scrabdackle, and we're excited to see how weird and divergent they end up getting!

New streams and Let's Plays!

We've had FIVE new playthroughs go up on Youtube since launch, plus one livestream on Twitch, and everyone's had a really good time playing through the demo! We've also had an article on gamingonlinux.com!

Videos:

GamingOnLinux: Scrabdackle is an adorable scribbly hand-drawn adventure

New behind-the-scenes looks!

I wrote a post on the Godot subreddit about how the opening cutscene was made in-game directly in the Godot engine, with a video showing the storyboard, engine view, and final in-game view side by side!

I also wrote on r/indiegames about how and why I structured the launch trailer backwards - and how that solved story and pacing problems!

Check them out, they're good reads! And feel free to ask further questions :) I've got more articles planned, so stay tuned!

That's the round-up!

We've had about 50 new members join the community discord server, and we're now just shy of 300 members! The server's been a LOT of fun this week with emoji art streams, some hunger games stories, and a Minecraft server about to start up, so it's a great time to check it out - there's a lot going on and it's a really welcoming group!

There will be more exciting stuff coming up, including a secret mid-campaign content drop, so stay tuned for more! And if you haven't checked out the campaign yet, please give a quick browse just to see what you think!

Quick shout out to the amazing Scrabdackle community who has been ALL ABOARD the hype train all week!! We did another emoji stream last night to unwind a bit, really fun time. Worth joining if you've only been following the project on twitter so far!https://t.co/jE4Mp5vZZS https://t.co/id2ZGJzxai pic.twitter.com/emvxWSS942
